This kind of panel comprises a polyethylene core between two aluminum skin, the front surface is coated with PVDF Kynar paints. Its excellent weather resistance is more suitable for the building’s exterior decoration and curtain wall projects.

What Is a PVDF-Coated Aluminum Composite Panel?
A PVDF-coated aluminum composite panel is a standard ACP — two aluminium skins bonded to a core — where the front skin carries a factory-applied PVDF coating. PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) is a fluoropolymer resin. In the coating systems used for facades it makes up around 70% of the resin by weight, normally as Kynar 500 or Hylar 5000, applied over a primer on properly pretreated aluminium coil and then baked. That resin system is what gives the panel its weather resistance: where a polyester coating is the economical choice for interiors and sheltered work, PVDF is the coating specified where the panel has to face sun, rain and temperature cycling for years without being repainted.
Jinxiang applies its PVDF coatings in-house, on our own coil coating lines, so the pretreatment, the coating system and the bake are controlled in one plant rather than bought in as finished coil.
Compare
PVDF or Polyester Coating?
The choice is normally cost against service life. Polyester coatings sit at the lower AAMA performance tiers (AAMA 2603 or 2604) and are perfectly serviceable indoors, on signage and in sheltered applications. PVDF is specified against AAMA 2605, the highest of the three AAMA tiers for organic coatings on aluminium: ten years of South Florida exposure with no more than 5 Delta E units of colour change and at least 50% gloss retention, plus 4,000 hours of humidity resistance and 2,000 hours of cyclic corrosion testing. If the panel is going onto a facade that has to hold its appearance for two decades, PVDF is the coating the specification will name. We compare the two in more detail in PVDF vs polyester coatings for ACP.
Applications
Where PVDF-Coated ACP Is Used
The common thread is UV and weather — anywhere the panel faces direct sun, rain and temperature cycling for years without being repainted:
- Curtain wall and rainscreen cladding on commercial and institutional buildings
- External column covers, canopies, fascias and soffits
- Petrol stations, car showrooms and other exposed commercial frontages
- Transport and infrastructure projects where colour retention is specified
- Signage and architectural features in constant sunlight
Specifying PVDF-clad aluminium cladding? Four numbers decide the coating, not the word “PVDF”: the performance standard the coating is tested to (AAMA 2605 or EN 13523), the resin system and its fluorocarbon content, the dry film thickness stated as a range rather than an average, and the pretreatment chemistry. We coat the coil before the panel is bonded, so the same system ends up on the panel skin and on the flat sheet cut from it — ask for the coil coating data sheet, not just a panel brochure. A supplier who cannot show all four on the quotation is quoting a coating with an unknown service life.
Specification
PVDF Coating Data and Certificates
PVDF is applied to a dry film thickness set by the specification, commonly as a two-coat system (primer plus colour coat) with an optional clear topcoat for extra gloss and chemical resistance on high-specification facades. The coating is qualified against AAMA 2605, and colour is matched to your RAL, Pantone or other reference. Coil and panel test data, together with mill certificates for the aluminium, are issued with the goods. If the facade also carries a fire requirement, our A2 core is classified to EN 13501-1 A2-s1,d0 — see the A2 fireproof aluminium composite panel range and the full ACP range for other cores.
Ordering
Buying PVDF Coated ACP from Jinxiang
Zhejiang Jinxiang Panel Industry Co., Ltd. has manufactured aluminum composite panel in Jinhua, Zhejiang since 1998. We run an 18,000 m² factory with 5 automatic coil coating lines, 3 continuous multi-coat and multi-bake coil lines and a 1.6-metre-wide A2 composite line, we have been ISO 9001 certified since 2002, and we export to over 70 countries. PVDF-coated panels in stock colours ship against a one-container MOQ; custom colours carry a 500 m² minimum per colour, and lead time is normally 10–15 days after deposit. Send us your specification — panel size, thickness, aluminium skin, core and colour reference — and we will quote the PVDF system that fits it.

PVDF Coated ACP: frequently asked questions
What is PVDF coating on an aluminum composite panel?
PVDF is a fluoropolymer coating (Kynar) applied to the front aluminium skin. It is the coating normally specified for exterior facades and curtain walls because of its weather and UV resistance.
Where is PVDF-coated ACP used?
Building exteriors, curtain wall and cladding projects where long-term colour and gloss retention matter, and where the facade is exposed to sun and rain for years.
How does PVDF differ from polyester coating?
PVDF is a fluoropolymer and is the usual choice for exterior facades and long outdoor life. Polyester is more economical and is typically specified for interior panels, ceilings and economy lines.
What thicknesses and colours are available?
We produce ACP in 2 mm, 3 mm and 4 mm thicknesses in any RAL or custom colour; the PVDF top coat uses more than 70% PPG resin.
What is the MOQ and lead time?
MOQ is one standard container, and custom colours have a minimum of 500 sqm per colour. Production lead time is typically 10-15 days after deposit, plus shipping. Sample kits are available before a first order.
