Wood Finish

What Is a Wood-Finish ACP?

A wood-finish ACP carries a wood-grain pattern printed onto a coated aluminium skin, bonded to a polyethylene or fire-rated core. From a metre away it reads as timber; up close it is a coated metal panel. It was developed for the jobs where real timber is the wrong material — balconies, soffits, canopies and shopfitting — because it keeps the look of wood without the maintenance or the moisture problems.

Compared

Wood-Finish ACP vs Real Timber

Against solid timber cladding, a printed aluminium panel does not rot, split or swell when it gets wet, and it is not attacked by termites or wood borers. It needs no annual sanding, staining or oiling, because the colour is in the coating rather than in the surface. Grain and colour are also consistent from panel to panel, which is hard to guarantee with natural timber. It can be supplied on a fire-rated core where the project requires one — see our A2 fire-rated ACP and PE vs FR-B1 vs A2 core — and it is lighter than solid timber, so the supporting frame is simpler.

Grain

Colour Range and Grain Direction

Wood-look panels are printed from a roll, so the grain runs in a single direction on the coil. Decide before cutting whether the grain will run vertically or horizontally on the elevation and keep it consistent — mixed grain direction across one facade is the commonest mistake with wood-look panels. Pale oak, walnut, teak and darker ebony-style tones are the usual references; send us the timber you are matching and we will confirm the closest one in the range. For a fully exposed facade, specify the print on a PVDF coating — see PVDF-coated ACP and PVDF vs polyester coatings.

Applications

Where Wood-Finish ACP Is Used

  • Exterior: balcony and terrace soffits, canopies, entrance surrounds, facade accents and car park screens
  • Interior: feature walls, reception areas, ceilings, shopfitting and lift interiors
  • Furniture, joinery and exhibition cladding where the look of timber is wanted on a stable panel

The same panel can therefore be used inside and out on one project, which is one reason it is widely used on shopfitting and hotel refurbishment work.

Ordering

Buying Wood-Finish ACP from Jinxiang

Zhejiang Jinxiang Panel Industry Co., Ltd. has manufactured aluminum composite panel in Jinhua, Zhejiang since 1998, in an 18,000 m² factory running 5 automatic coil coating lines and 3 continuous multi-coat and multi-bake coil lines. We have held ISO 9001 since 2002 and export to over 70 countries. Wood-finish panels are made in 2–6 mm and in widths from 1000 to 1600 mm, on LDPE or fire-rated cores, with a choice of PE, PVDF, FEVE and NANO coating systems. Stock colours ship against a one-container MOQ; custom colours carry a 500 m² minimum per colour, with lead time normally 10–15 days after deposit. Send your panel size, thickness, core and colour reference and we will quote it.

Wooden Finish ACP: frequently asked questions

What is a wooden finish aluminum composite panel?

It is an aluminum composite panel whose front aluminium skin carries a wood-grain finish, so it reproduces the appearance of timber while keeping the flatness, light weight and dimensional stability of aluminium composite.

Which wood grains can you supply?

Wood-grain finishes are produced to order. Send the grain or a reference photo for your project and we will confirm the closest available standard grain and the colour match.

What thicknesses and colours are available?

We produce ACP in 2 mm, 3 mm and 4 mm thicknesses in any RAL or custom colour; wood grains are matched to the reference you supply.

Can wooden finish panels be used outdoors?

They are commonly specified for shopfronts, soffits, entrance surrounds and feature walls. For exterior exposure, tell us the project location when you enquire so we can confirm the coating system suits the local UV and weather conditions.

What is the MOQ and lead time?

MOQ is one standard container, and custom colours have a minimum of 500 sqm per colour. Production lead time is typically 10-15 days after deposit, plus shipping. Sample kits are available before a first order.
